About Us

Dr. Jessica Ibey, owner & operator of VetSonix Diagnostic Imaging, has provided expert veterinary care to small animals in routine and emergency situations, in both rural and urban settings, since graduating from the University of Melbourne, Veterinary Science in 2010. Prior to pursuing a veterinary degree, Dr. Ibey graduated from McGill University, Majoring in Physiology, in 2005.

As a clinical veterinarian, Dr. Ibey became exposed to and developed a passion for ultrasound. She has since enthusiastically honed her skills, scanning technique and knowledge in this facet of the veterinary medical field. Over the past 5 years, Dr. Ibey completed veterinary ultrasound courses with a specific focus in abdominal, echocardiography and MSK, through Heska (formerly SCIL) Vet Academy (Canada), Universal Imaging (Bedford Hills, NY), and Sound Academy (Arlington, Texas), and more recently completed the European School of Advance Veterinary Sciences Cardiology 1-3 courses. She graduated as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, from the Canadian National Institute of Health (CNIH) in 2018, after which she continued to develop her skills and techniques, scanning routine and critical cases at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, various veterinary clinics in the Ottawa area, and at the Veterinary Learning Center and Clinic at Algonquin College.

For 5 years, as a Course Instructor for continuing education seminars through Heska (formerly SCIL) Vet Academy, and as an Application Specialist for Heska (formerly SCIL) Animal Care Company, Dr. Ibey taught Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians the foundations of ultrasound and scanning technique all across Canada.

She has furthered her experience as an educator in the position of Assistant Professor in the Veterinary Technician program at Algonquin College, teaching the Clinical Practices Surgical Lab and Veterinary Pharmacology. She has been a guest lecturer at Carleton University SYSC 4203 Bioinstrumentation and Signals, and a keynote speaker for the CNIH 2018 Sonography Conference.

Dr. Ibey enjoys spending her free time going on hikes with her pups Lyra and Fergus, catering to the whims of her fiesty felines, Carmen and Saffron, traveling to and exploring new regions, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Dr. Ibey is a fear-free certified professional, and a member in good-standing with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA).
